LAWRENCE, Kan. – The UMKC track and field team will continue its outdoor season at the Kansas Relays this week. Zane Lockhart (Plattsmouth, Neb.) and Daiwa Emmert (Bolivar, Mo.) will begin competition for the Roos on Wednesday with the multi events.
Lockhart will start with five events of the decathlon, while Emmert will open with four events of the heptathlon. Both multi events will conclude on Thursday. Six men’s field events and four women’s field events, as well as five distance events for both squads, will be featured on Thursday.
The final two days of the Kansas Relays will be the busiest for UMKC. The Roos will open Friday with the men’s discus at 10 a.m. CT, while running events are expected to begin at 10:15 a.m. CT with the women’s 100-meter hurdles preliminaries.
On Saturday, the women’s 4x100-meter relay final will start events at approximately 1:10 p.m. CT. The meet will conclude with the men’s 4x400-meter relay final that is expected to begin right before 4 p.m. CT.
A total of 51 teams are projected to compete alongside the Roos over the course of the four days.
UMKC returns four Western Athletic Conference individual champions, eight first team all-conference performers and 13 second team All-WAC honorees from last season.
The Roos will return to Lawrence, Kan., on April 29 for the Rock Chalk Classic.
