NAMPA, Idaho – The UMKC track & field teams closed out the 2018 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Nampa, Idaho, at the Ford Idaho Center with the women finishing in fourth spot with 76 points and the men placing second with 169 points.
Christopher Bryan continued to lead the charge for the men’s team on the final day of competition with a victory in the triple jump with a mark of 15.55 meters, the second best jump in school history. In the championships, Bryan claimed the titles in both the triple jump and long jump, setting a school record in the long jump, while finishing second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.04, the fourth best time in school history. For his efforts, Bryan was the winner of the High Point Award after finishing with 30 points.
Darrien Case, meanwhile, added the 800-meter run title, finishing the event in a time of 1:53.27.
In the women’s shot put, Matia Finley finished fifth with a toss of 12.92 meters and Rebecca Finley was right behind in sixth with a throw of 12.18 meters, while in the triple jump Blessing Oparaji finished fifth at 11.47 meters, Shermane Foster placed sixth at 11.45 meters and Leyla Edwards finished seventh at 11.43 meters.
On the track for the women, Elizabeth Nolke and Mia Jerman finished back-to-back in the mile, in third and fourth, with times of 5:03.68 and 5:05.82, respectively, while Nolke added a fourth place result in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.38 and Jerman finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 10:16.47.
For the men, Jamarice Preston finished fourth in the high jump at 1.97 meters, Jeremy Harr added a fifth place result in the triple jump with a mark of 14.14 meters and Lukas Van Der Watt placed fourth in the pole vault at 4.80 meters. In the shot put, Perry Adderley finished second with a throw of 16.08 meters, the third best throw in school history and Jacob Hockman finished fifth at 14.82 meters. Luke Woodall, meanwhile finished seventh in the pole vault with a height of 4.50 meters, the fifth best mark in school history.
In the running events, Daylan Quinn finished second in the mile at 4:17.24, Chadayne Walker placed second in the 60-meter dash at 6.89, Jason Fambrough and Nathan Keown finished back-to-back in the 3,000-meter run in second and third with times of 8:32.37 and 8:35.60, respectively, Jaquez Perry finished fourth in the 400-meter dash at 49.22, Fred Boyd, Jr. finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.14, the fifth best time in school history, and Traezon Henderson placed fourth in the 200-meter dash at 22.18. The 4x400-meter relay team of Henderson, Case, Perry and Eric Yarbrough came in second with a time of 3:18.61.
