UMKC Women's Basketball Summer Camp Dates
The Kansas City women's basketball staff will host three camps in June of 2014; Elite position camp for both perimeter and post players as well as the 1st annual Little Joey camp for players just being introduced to the game of basketball.
“We are excited to be able to have the opportunity to offer a full slate of camps this summer,” Head Coach Marsha Frese said. “The Little Joey camp will be for our smallest future ‘Roos and will introduce young players to the basics of basketball. I also couldn’t be more excited about our one day elite camps. I have been saying for years that all young players need some basic skills that they can incorporate into their own workouts in the off-season. These camps will give serious players that opportunity.”
The three camp options are as follows:
Little Joey Camp (June 9-12th, 1st-8th grade)
Elite Guard camp for point guards & Wings (June 14th, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m./Grades 8-12)
Elite Post camp for forwards & centers (June 15, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m./ 8th-12th grade)
Both the elite perimeter and post camps are a one day program designed for JV and varsity level players who want to learn how to improve their individual skills and prepare themselves for an opportunity to play at the collegiate level. Campers will not only learn skills specific to each position but also how to improve upon their mental approach to the game, nutrition, scouting and how the recruiting process works.
The Little Joey Day Camp is for kids from 1st-8th grade (for the 2014-15 school year). Campers will learn basic basketball skills in a low key environment that promotes fun and helps develop a love for the game! The camp is designed for instruction in basic basketball skills and concepts, Camp will run Monday-Thursday from 9-5pm daily, with early drop off and pick-up available at 8 am and 5 pm.
