With the conference championship, the Roos claim an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals to be played May 6-8. The location and course will be announced on the Golf Channel and streamed live on the Golf Channel website on Wednesday, May 1 at 8 p.m. CDT.
This year's event played out similar to the 2018 WAC Championship, as the Roos were four strokes better than second-place Grand Canyon last year.
Sophomore Paul Foulquie, one of three returning golfers from the 2018 championship team, shot the third-lowest score in the tournament finishing third overall. Courtesy of a one-under par 212 (73-67-72), he went on to post his best finish of the 2018-19 season.
Junior McCain Schellhardt and senior Francois Lagraulet came into the clubhouse each with top-10 finishes. Schellhardt, the 2018 individual champion, stroked an-even par 213 (72-70-71) to finish fourth this year. Lagraulet posted his second-straight WAC top-10 result after a three-over par 216 (72-68-76) to tie for eighth this year after a tied-fifth position last year.
The Roos performed strong with the highest amount of birdies (53) and tied for the most eagles (3). Schellhardt claimed the most birdies in the tournament with 14.
Grand Canyon's Jake Chanen collected individual medalist honors with a three-under par 210 (72-67-71).
Overall, UMKC won two conference championships during the Summit League days (2011 & 2013) and the other three in the WAC (2016, 2018, 2019).
