KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC softball team (25-21) fell on Tuesday afternoon, 4-1, to instate rival Missouri State (27-17) at Urban Youth Academy.

Sydney Garcia led the Roos at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

The Bears got the scoring started in the top of the third with a run scoring single and pushed the lead to 2-0 after an RBI triple in the fifth.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Roos cracked the scoreboard for the first time when Bre Hunter’s single to center plated Garcia, cutting the lead in half.

MSU, however, added two more in the seventh, while the Roos were unable to complete the comeback in the bottom half of the inning, falling 4-1.

The Blue & Gold will resume WAC play this weekend when they head to Las Cruces., N.M., for a three games series with New Mexico State starting Friday, Apr. 26 at 7 p.m. CT.
