KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC track & field teams traveled to three different meets this week, taking part in the Texas State Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, The Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin Texas, and the San Francisco State Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco, Calif.
In San Francisco, Quinlan Moll placed 16th out of 108 runners in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 29:37.54, the second fastest time in school history, while Jason Fambrough finished 91st in the event in a time of 32:10.96.
In Austin, Carolyn Ross (1:04.33) and Chesney Walker (1:07.16) finished 48th and 73rd, respectively in the 400-meter hurdles for the women, while Jackson Foutch placed 77th in a time of 59.01 for the men.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Ross placed 84th at 15.69 and Jada Steele finished 87th at 15.90, while in the 100-meter dash Malon Lee placed 89th a 12.40 and Louisa Nylander placed 93rd at 12.42 for the women and Traezon Henderson finished 65th at 10.92 for the men.
In San Marcos, Lukas Van der Watt finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 5.00m, while Ekhardt Van der Watt registered the third best mark in school history in the event at 4.85m to finish ninth.
In the long jump, Mills placed eighth at 5.73m and Leyla Edwards placed 34th at 5.01m, while in the 100-meter dash, Mills finished 11th (12.10), Spivey finished 36th (12.56) and Edwards placed 43rd (12.70).
In the 400-meter dash, Culberson placed 58th at 1:03.92 for the women and Henderson placed 57th at 53.49 for the men and in the 400-meter hurdles, Shayla Davis placed 25th (1:07.25) and Chesney Walker placed 29th (1:08.22) for the women and Foutch placed 30th (58.29) for the men.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again next week when they head to Lincoln, Neb., on Apr. 4-5, for the Husker Spring Invitational.
