KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC softball team (13-5) dropped its finale at the Wildcat Invite, 5-4, to Maine (2-6) at Poly Wells Field in Abilene, Texas, on Saturday afternoon.

Chyanne Onstad finished the game 1-for-4 with two RBIs, a run and a stolen base, while Maegan Rollow and Alexis D’Ambrosio each tallied two hits.

Maine opened the scoring in the third, while the Roos were kept off the board through the first four innings.

In the fifth, however, the UMKC bats woke up with a four-run output.

Bre Hunter got the rallied started when her single knocked in Sydney Garcia and Onstad followed with a triple to left center that scored Hunter and D’Ambrosio.

The Roos final run of the inning came when Onstad stole home to put UMKC ahead 4-1.

The Black Bears answered back with two in the bottom half of the inning, cutting the lead to one, before adding single runs on the sixth and seventh to complete the comeback.

The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Friday when they head to Lawrence, Kan., for the Kansas Invitational on Mar. 8-10.
