KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC track & field teams closed out the regular season part of its 2018-19 Indoor Track & Field season on Friday at the Nebraska Tune-Up in Lincoln, Neb.
"Today was all about fine tuning for our championship meet next week,” Interim Head Coach Benaud Shirley said. “We competed hard and we are very excited about next week."
On the women’s side, Sommer Herner posted the fourth best time in school history in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:37.94, good for fourth in the event, while Louisa Nylander claimed the title in the 400 meter dash in a time of 58.09.
Carolyn Ross, meanwhile, notched a third place finish in the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.30.
For the men, Josh Sanders’ time of 1:21.57 in the 600 meter run placed him third in the event and third all-time in school history.
Ryan Parson also notched a top-three result for the Roos, placing third in the mile with a time of 4:15.56.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again next Friday when they open competition in the 2019 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boise, Idaho.
