After residency, Dr. Christopher M. Shaw, MD, completed dual fellowship training in both orthopaedic sports medicine and hip arthroscopy and preservation surgery. During those years he was fortunate to spend time with both the Kansas City Chiefs, under Dr. Cris Barnthouse, and the Cleveland Browns, under Dr. James Voos. His practice includes special interest in the operative and non-operative care of all types of sports injuries including shoulder/elbow, hip, knee, and foot/ankle related sports injuries. He is specially trained in hip surgery and knee ligament reconstruction with minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques.
Dr. Shaw's particular clinical interests include injuries of the ACL, knee and hip articular cartilage, and the meniscus and ligaments of the knee. He also specializes in hip labral injuries and preservation surgery of the hip, using advanced arthroscopic techniques, and is the only member of the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy in the Kansas City area.
Thanks to several prominent mentors along the way, Dr. Shaw has a dedicated interest in the education of future orthopaedic surgeons and students at all levels of education. He has co-authored multiple textbook chapters that are used by national and international orthopaedic peers and residency programs for orthopaedic education.
