KANSAS CITY – The UMKC men’s soccer team fell with a barrage of goals in the second half from the Drake Bulldogs, resulting in a score of 3-0 Tuesday night.

After sitting through a 30 minute rain delay and heading into halftime all tied up 0-0, the Roos felt the offensive attack that the Bulldogs were known for showing in the latter half. Setting up for a free kick in the 54th minute, Drake midfielder Alex Peterson gave the ball a nice touch inside the box, making the score 1-0.

Entering the 59th minute mark, the Bulldogs would strike again as the Roos let their guard down and gave up the second goal of the game as forward Leroy Enzugusi would slide the ball right past junior goalkeeper Felippo Errico (Verona, Italy) to notch the score 2-0.

The last goal of the night came in the 69th minute as Enzugusi would fly down the left side of the field and found another Bulldog in the middle of the box, resulting in a final score of 3-0.

Head coach Rick Benben gave his remarks after the game.

“Tough game for us tonight, but the guys hung in and never gave up”, Benben elaborated.

Following tonight’s game, the Roos will look forward to a two-game road trip, which will include stints at Northwestern (9/9) and Missouri State (9/15). UMKC will then return home Saturday, Sept. 22nd to host Air Force at 7 p.m. C.T.
