Roos Nab Four Titles at Nebraska Invitational

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC track & field teams picked up four titles on Saturday afternoon in the Nebraska Invitational at Ed Weir Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.

Christopher Bryan led the way, winning the long jump with a mark of 5.39m, while finishing second in the 110m hurdles in a time of 14.48, the third best time in the WAC this season.

Jeremy Harr picked up the Roos second title with a mark of 14.10m in the triple jump, while Darrien Case won the 1,500m run with a time of 3:53.24.  The Roos fourth title, meanwhile, came from Carter Grissom in the javelin with a throw of 64.23m, ranking as the second best throw in school history and the second best throw in the WAC this season.

Jada Steele added a runner-up finish in the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.61, ninth best in the WAC this season and a third place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.57m, while Terrence Williams finished second in the triple jump at 13.47m, 11th best in the WAC and fourth in the long jump at 6.24m.

On the track, second place results came from Malon Lee in the 100m dash (12.16 – 13th WAC), Jaquez Perry in the 400m dash (48.25 – 3rd WAC, t5th UMKC), Jackson Barbour in the 800m run (1:54.51) and Katherine Hanners in the 3,000m run (10:15.95).  Lee also added a third place result in the 200m dash in a time of 24.67, 10th in the WAC and 4th in UMKC history.  Harpreet Dosanjh, meanwhile, finished second in the javelin with a throw of 61.06m, fourth best in the WAC this season.

In the women’s field events, Jayla Riggins finished fourth in the long jump (5.44m), Traci Mills finished third in the triple jump (11.68m) and fifth in the long jump (5.39m), Leyla Edwards finished fifth in the triple jump (11.15m), Christy Nell placed third in the pole vault (3.81m) and Alexa Pint finished third in the javelin (39.12m).

On the track for the women, Traci Mills placed third in the 100m dash (12.30), Rachel Culberson placed third in the 400m dash (56.72), seventh best in the WAC this season and fifth in the 200m dash (25.08), 13th best in the WAC, Gabriel Foster placed fourth in the 100m hurdles (15.09) and Daiwa Emmert finished fifth in the 100m hurdles (15.13).

In the men’s field events, Zane Lockhart placed third in the long jump (6.63m), David Chappelle placed fifth in the high jump (1.90m), Luke Woodall finished fourth in the pole vault (4.47m), Perry Adderley placed third in the shot put (14.89m) and Jacob Hockman placed fifth in the shot put (14.14).

On the track, Chadayne Walker placed fourth in the 200m dash (21.89), Jamarice Preston placed fourth in the 400 meter dash (49.14), fifth best in the WAC this season and Josh Sanders finished third in the 800m run (1:55.43).

The Blue & Gold will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the WC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan.
