KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC track & field teams completed action in Joplin, Mo., at the Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational at the Fred G. Hughes Stadium.
A trio of Roos picked up titles in the event with Darrien Case winning the men’s 800-meter run in a time of 1:53.32, Alexa Pint taking the women’s javelin with a throw of 40.17m and Marcus Johnson winning the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:19.90.
Christy Nell, meanwhile, broke her own school record in the pole vault with a height of 3.85m, good for third in her section, while Jada Steele finished third in the long jump at 5.84m, the fourth best mark in school history and third in the 110m hurdles at 14.77.
Posting runner-up finishes for UMKC were Jaquez Perry in the 400-meter dash (48.69), Jackson Barbour in the 800-meter run (1:53.52), Elizabeth Nolke in the 1,500-meter run (4:45.20), Daylan Quinn in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:29.92) and Carter Grissom in the javelin (62.70m).
Other Roos finishing in the top-five included Katherine Hanners (1,500-meter run – 4:47.17 – 3rd), Nathan Keown (5,000-meter run – 15:06.69 – 3rd), Mara Meneely (pole vault – 3.30m – 3rd), Chris Bryan (long jump – 7.49m – 3rd/110-meter hurdles – 14:59 – 4th), Daiwa Emmert (110-meter hurdles – 15:18 – 4th), Lillian Schnakenberg (400-meter hurdles – 1:06.87 – 4th), Gabriel Foster (110-meter hurdles – 15:39 – 5th), Traci Mills (long jump – 5.75m – 5th/triple jump – 11.69m – 5th) and Harpreet Dosanjh (javelin – 57.96m – 5th).
The Blue & Gold will be back in action when they close out the 2018 regular season at the Nebraska Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., on May 5.
