UMKC Heads to Wichita for K.T. Woodman Classic

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC track & field teams continue their 2018 outdoor season when they head to Wichita, Kan., for the K.T. Woodman Classic on Apr. 13-14 at Cessna Stadium

Field events begin on Friday at 11 a.m. CT starting with the discus and concluding with the javelin at 6 p.m. CT, while the Distance Carnival starts at 6 p.m. CT with the 1,500-meter run and ending at 10:50 p.m. CT with the 5,000-meter run.

Saturday, meanwhile, will start with the 10,000-meter run at 10 a.m. CT, while the event wraps-up at 6:40 p.m. CT with the 4x400-meter relay.

Christopher Bryan was named WAC Field Athlete of the Week on Apr. 3 after he won the long jump event at the Jimmy John’s ORU Invitational with a mark of 7.53 meters. His mark was good enough to rank him second in school history and 35th in the nation. Bryan went on to place second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.37 meters in the same meet.

Last Time Out: The UMKC track & field teams continued their 2018 outdoor season in Tulsa, Okla., for the Jimmy John’s ORU Invitational at the Oneok Sports Complex.

In the javelin, the Roos posted solid finishes on both the men’s and women’s side.  Alexa Pintfinished second with a throw of 38.94m, the fourth best mark in school history, while on the men’s side, Carter Grissom (60.97m) and Harpreet Dosanjh (60.23m) finished back-to-back in first and second, with Grissom’s throw standing as the third best mark in school history.

Christopher Bryan added a title in the long jump with a mark of 7.53m, the second best mark in school history and placed second in the triple jump at 14.37m, while Perry Adderley’s toss of 15.79m in the shot put was good for third in the event and fourth all-time at UMKC.

Carolyn Ross added a pair of top-five results, placing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.28, the third best time in school history, and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.57.

Up Next: The Blue & Gold will be back in action when they head to Lawrence, Kan., on Apr. 19-21 for the 91st Kansas Relays presented by RCB Bank.
