KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC track & field teams continued their 2018 outdoor season in Tulsa, Okla., for the Jimmy John’s ORU Invitational at the Oneok Sports Complex.
In the javelin, the Roos posted solid finishes on both the men’s and women’s side. Alexa Pint finished second with a throw of 38.94m, the fourth best mark in school history, while on the men’s side, Carter Grissom (60.97m) and Harpreet Dosanjh (60.23m) finished back-to-back in first and second, with Grissom’s throw standing as the third best mark in school history.
Christopher Bryan added a title in the long jump with a mark of 7.53m, the second best mark in school history and placed second in the triple jump at 14.37m, while Perry Adderley’s toss of 15.79m in the shot put was good for third in the event and fourth all-time at UMKC.
Carolyn Ross added a pair of top-five results, placing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.28, the third best time in school history, and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.57.
In field events, Jacob Hockman placed third in the men’s hammer at 51.05m and sixth in the discus with a throw of 48.83m, the fifth best mark in school history and Hamza Kamran placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.57m, the third best mark in school history, while Daiwa Emmert placed fifth in the high jump at 1.58m and David Chappelle finished fifth in the men’s high jump at 1.88m.
On the running side, Mia Jerman placed second in the 1,500-meter run at 4:45.01, Jaquez Perry finished fourth in the 400-meter dash at 48.64, Darrien Case finished fourth in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:54.25 and Nathan Keown (4:01.06) and Daylan Quinn (4:02.11) finished back-to-back in fourth and fifth in the 1,500-meter run.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Apr. 7 when they head to Lincoln, Neb., for the Husker Spring Invitational.
