KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC men’s golf team posted a sixth place finish on Saturday afternoon at the Grand Canyon Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz., at the GCU Golf Course.
In the event, a pair of Roos tied for 20th at +3. Francois Lagraulet carded four birdies in the first round, all on par-4’s, while adding a solo birdie in round two and six more in the final round, including three straight on Nos. 3-6.
Matching him was Paul Foulquie. In the opening round, the Frenchman carded four birdies and followed it up with three more in round two, all on the back nine. The freshman went on to add two more in the final round.
One shot back at +4 was McCain Schellhardt, finishing in a tie for 22nd. Schellhardt opened with two birdies in round one and followed with three more in round two. He then closed the event with birdies on No. 1 and No. 10 for UMKC.
Taylor Larsen, meanwhile, tied for 30th at +6, after three birdies in round one, two in round two and three more on the final day of play.
Rounding out the lineup was Sam Humphreys, who tied for 43rd. Humphreys finished round one with two birdies and round two with three, while playing the final round at +2 to fiish the event at +8.
Playing as an individual, Jack Hermeston finished at +25 for the Roos, in a tie for 88th.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Apr. 9-10 Canyon University when they head to Columbia, Mo., for the Tiger Invitational.
