WICHITA, Kan. – The UMKC men’s tennis team (2-5) dropped its contest with Wichita State (2-5), 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Genesis Health Club in Wichita, Kan.
In doubles play, Tom Kruse and Diego Giraldo fell to Haru Inoue and Eddie Stooica at No. 2, 6-2, and at No. 3, Hunter Clark and Daniel Izadifar went down to Andrea Caligiana and Miroslav Herzan, 6-0. Airam Castellano and Alex Pozo, meanwhile, were trailing at No. 1 to Murkel Dellien and Marius Frosa, 5-2, when the point was decided.
On the singles side, Izadifar fell at No. 5, 6-1, 6-3, to Stoica and at No. 3, Kruse lost to Dellien, 6-3, 6-4.
From the No. 4 spot, Giraldo lost his match with Herzan, 7-5, 7-5 and at No. 6, Clark fell to Caligiana, 7-5, 6-3.
At No. 1, Castellano dropped his match with Frosa, 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 1-0 (10-3) and at No. 2, Pozo lost to Inoue, 7-6, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3).
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Friday when they welcome in Oral Roberts for a 2 p.m. CT match.
