Monday’s opening game against the Jasper’s will be UMKC’s fifth game in 11 days, as the Roos played every other day for a week straight to open the season.

Despite falling to Loyola on Nov. 16, Broderick Robinson (Grand Junction, Colo.) had a tremendous outing, notching a career high in points (16), field goal attempts (11) and 3-point attempts (7). He also matched his career-highs in rebounds (7), steals (4), field goals (5) and 3-pointers (3) while falling just a minute shy of a career high in minutes played.

All 12 eligible student-athletes have seen action so far this season for UMKC. Robinson, Jordan Giles (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and Aleer Leek (Juba, South Sudan) have started all four games for the Roos.

As a team, the Roos are shooting 72.6 percent from the free throw line, with Leek, Giles, Xavier Bishop (Springfield, Mo.) and Steve Dulley (Kansas City, Mo.) all shooting better than 75 percent at the charity stripe.

UMKC set program records with its win over Haskell on Nov. 12. The Roos scored 100-plus points for the first time since against UTRGV last March. UMKC also made a program record 39 field goals, while snagging a school record 20 steals.

Kareem Richardson’s troop features six returning letterwinners and welcomes nine newcomers this season. The Roos will look to the senior leadership of Robinson, as UMKC lost all five of its starters from 2016-17. Robinson, along with Bishop played in all 35 games for the Roos last season, while Ross made an appearance in 34 contests. Richardson enters his fifth year at the helm of the Roos program.
