Roos To Host NMSU & UTRGV on Final Homestand, Senior Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC volleyball team returns to Kansas City for the final time this season when it welcomes in New Mexico State and UTRGV on Oct. 24 and 26.  The Roos will take on the Aggies on Thursday at 7 p.m., while the match with the Vaqueros is slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday.

About the Roos UMKC comes into the weekend with a 7-15 mark on the season and a 3-6 record in conference action, picking up wins over Grand Canyon, Chicago State and Seattle.  Three Roos have topped the 100-kill mark on the season, including 219 from Alicia Harrington (Cedar Falls, Iowa), 174 from Mykal Sadler (Des Moines, Iowa) and 170 from Alex Ratzlaff (Hillsboro, Kan.).  In the back row, Rhegan Spiegel (Savannah, Mo.) has a team-high 319 digs with Ratzlaff chipping in 231 and Harrington adding 210.

About the Aggies New Mexico States comes into the match with a 15-7 record on the season and a 6-2 mark in conference play after winning four straight contests. Kassandra Tohm leads the Aggies with 271 kills, while Tatyana Battle has 233, Sasha-Lee Thomas has 199 and Jordan Abalos has 137.  On the defensive side, Lia Mosher leads the team with 79 blocks and Thomas has 73, with Ariadnne Sierra leading NMSU with 417 digs.

About the Vaqueros UTRGV enters the week with a 12-9 record overall and a 6-2 mark in the WAC after falling to NMSU last weekend.  Ragni Steen Knudsen leads the Vaqueros’ offensive attack with 275 kills, while Bojana Mitrovic has added 242, Barbara Silva has added 191 and Alexandra Ecker has added 121.  Defensively, Ecker leads the team with 75 blocks and Gysell Zayas tops the squad with 339 digs.

Up Next The Blue & Gold head east to Chicago for a match with longtime rival Chicago State on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.
