UMKC Downs NCMC Sunday Afternoon

UMKC started right where they left off scoring three out of their first four innings in their Sunday afternoon game against North Central Missouri College. Sydney Garcia got things going with a leadoff single and was able to steal second to get into scoring position. With two outs, Kelsey Goodwin hit a RBI double to put the ‘Roos up 1-0.

In the bottom of the third, Senior Ashlin O’Brien started things off with a triple down the right field line. Goodwin was able to score O’Brien with a base hit. Sophomore Lia Lombardini kept things going with a RBI double to get into scoring position. Olivia Fluehr was able to score Lombardini with a double up the middle making it 4-0 after three innings of play.

In the bottom of the fourth, Garcia had a one out single and was able to move over on a pass ball. O’Brien hit a single to score Garcia. Goodwin followed that up with a triple to left center to score one she then scored on a pass ball putting the ‘Roos up 7-0.

The ‘Roos pitching staff continue to stay strong in the circle. Freshman Ashlynn Robinson started for UMKC throwing a perfect three innings. Olivia Fluehr threw the next two innings giving up three hits and one run striking out two. Senior Lynsey Conner threw the last two innings giving up no hits and only one walk.

UMKC went on to beat NCMC 7-1.

The ‘Roos finish up their fall season next weekend hosting Butler Community College for their 9th annual Roo Family Weekend. Things will get started at 1pm Saturday at Urban Youth Academy.
