KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC men’s soccer team (2-0-1) will host the Memphis Tigers (0-3-1) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. CT to close its longest home stand of the season at Durwood Soccer Stadium.

About the Roos
The 2017 season marks the 20th under the direction of Rick Benben. UMKC boasts a 34-24-5 (.579) record at its home facility and will play the most home matches in a single season at Durwood Soccer Stadium, hosting 11 opponents this season.
UMKC is the only team in the Western Athletic Conference to remain undefeated in the 2017 campaign. After not being ranked last week, the Roos are currently No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I West Region poll.
Starting goalkeeper Filippo Errico (Verona, Italy) earned WAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday after making a season-high seven saves en route to his third consecutive shutout, which currently ranks in a tie for the sixth-most in a single season by a Roo in UMKC program history.
Senior Eric McWoods (St. Louis, Mo.) was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 28 after finishing the two game series against Central Arkansas and Northwestern with eight shots, two goals, two assists and a conference-leading six points.
The Roos 2-0 victory over Northwestern (Aug. 27) marked the first time that the program has captured a win over a Big Ten opponent in school history.
About the Tigers
Head coach Richard Mulrooney enters into his fourth season at the helm of the Tiger program in 2017 and has an overall record of 20-28-8. Memphis is still looking for its first win of the season after opening the 2017 campaign with a scoreless draw at Belmont and dropping its last three matches to UAB, Kentucky and SIU Edwardsville.
UMKC Athletics Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts
UMKC’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be collecting monetary donations this weekend at all home UMKC athletic events to put towards Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in Houston, Texas. All proceeds will benefit the Houston Food Bank and the Texas Diaper Bank. UMKC SAAC representatives will be at the UMKC men’s and women’s soccer matches at Durwood Soccer Stadium on Friday and Sunday, respectively, as well as the UMKC volleyball matches during the Kangaroo Klassic at Swinney Recreation Center on Friday and Saturday. Although UMKC SAAC representatives will not be at the neutral volleyball matches between Rutgers, South Dakota and UNI, a donation station will be set up in the lobby.
UMKC will head north for a midweek matchup at Milwaukee on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. CT, before returning home for a pair of matches against Western Illinois and Missouri State.
