WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – UMKC women’s golf moved up a spot to finish seventh out of 22 teams Tuesday at the Kingsmill Intercollegaite at the River Course. The Roos shot 301 (+13) in the final round.
"We had some great rounds today from the top of our lineup with Mackenzie and Cynthia, and it was great to see Abbey confidently shooting 75," head coach Brianna Broderick said. "Moving forward, we must evaluate our strengths and focus on improving our weaknesses. The best is yet to come for this team, and with our home tournament coming up, we are looking forward to a strong and consistent showing from each and every one of our players."
Cynthia Diaz(Bucaramanga, Colombia) tied for sixth individually after shooting an even par 72 in the third round. Mackenzie Black(Independence, Iowa) placed ninth, also carding a 72 (E) in the final round.
Chandler Gallagher(Kansas City, Mo.) shot 79 (+7) in the third round and finished at 16-over par. Maria Henao(Pereira, Colombia) and Cyrielle Kern(Cuvry, France) both closed the tournament at 23-over after shooting 83 (+11) and 78 (+6), respectively, on Tuesday. Abbey Campbell (Garden City, Kan.) finished one stroke behind them while competing individually.
Ball State won the team title at 36-over par, finishing a stroke ahead of host William & Mary and Delaware. Ball State’s Allison Lindley and Liz Choi from William & Mary tied for the individual title at 1-over.
UMKC returns to play on April 9-10 when the Roos host the Kansas City Shootout at Shoal Creek Golf Course.
