PHOENIX, Ariz. – UMKC men’s tennis (7-6, 1-1) dropped a 6-1 decision to Grand Canyon Saturday afternoon at the GCU Tennis Center. The Lopes won five singles matches and also grabbed the doubles point.

Amaury Navette (Paris, France) claimed the lone victory for the Roos, defeating Adrian Legarreta 2-6, 7-5, 10-7 on the No. 3 court.

Airam Castellano (Gran Canaria, Spain) fell 6-1, 7-5 to Francois Musitelli in No. 1 play. Uldis Gaismins (Riga, Latvia) was beaten 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 by Mathieu Rajaonah in No. 2 action. Tom Kruse (Flensburg, Germany) dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Lorenzo Fucile on the No. 4 court. Mike Psarros (Athens, Greece) was beaten 7-5, 6-4 by Justin Cvitanovic in the No. 5 match. Vinh Pham (Lenexa, Kan.) fell 6-1, 6-3 to Valentin Lang in No. 6 play.

In doubles play, Castellano and Psarros won 6-4 over Legarreta and Phillip Kuehnen in the No. 1 match. Navette and Gaismins fell 6-4 to Rajaonah and Ounanian in the No. 2 contest. Daniel Izadifar (Tonsberg, Norway) and Pham lost 6-1 to Fucile and Lang on the No. 3 court.

The Roos face Seattle U at 2 p.m. CT Sunday to wrap up the conference weekend.
