MERRIAM, Kan. – UMKC men’s tennis (6-3) swept South Dakota State (0-10) Sunday at the Kansas City Racquet Club. The Roos made quick work of the Jackrabbits by winning the top three singles matches and claiming the doubles point.

In singles play, Airam Castellano (Gran Canaria, Spain) beat Emerson Styles in the No. 1 match, 6-4, 7-5. Uldis Gaismins (Riga, Latvia) took down Marco Castro on the No. 2 court, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (9-7). Amaury Navette (Paris, France) defeated Jonny Higham, 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 3 contest.

On the doubles court, Gaismins and Navette beat Higham and Castro, 6-3 in No. 1 play. Castellano and Tom Kruse (Flensburg, Germany) were victorious over Styles and Chuck Tang, 6-2, on the No. 2 court.

UMKC travels to Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday to face the Bearcats at 2 p.m. CT.
