UMKC Falls 6-1 at Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – UMKC women’s tennis (2-6) dropped a 6-1 decision at Oklahoma (4-2) Sunday afternoon at the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion. Mariam Kurasbediani (Tbilsi, Georgia) earned a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 victory over Simran Sethi in the No. 3 singles match for the Roos, who had only four healthy players competing.

Aliona Ladutska (Minsk, Belarus) was defeated 6-4, 6-2 by Serena Nash on the No. 1 singles court.  Melinda Johnson (Overland Park, Kan.) was beaten 6-3, 6-1 by Ann Selim in No. 2 play. Thanushree Vale (Chennai, India) fell 6-3, 6-2 against Christiana Brigante on the No. 4 court.

Lily Miyazaki and Simran Sethi beat Johnson and Ladutska 6-1 in the No. 1 doubles match to clinch the doubles point.

UMKC returns home to face South Dakota State on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Kansas City Racquet Club in Merriam, Kansas.
