UMKC Falls Late at Belmont in Season Opener

Nashville, Tenn. – The Roos fell 9-4 to Belmont in the season opener in the Belmont Winter Fest Tournament on Friday night.

The Bruins got out to an early lead by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. UMKC responded in the top of the second inning with three runs, getting two on a single from Maegan Rollow (Broken Arrow, Okla.).

The Bruins tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning, then scored six in the sixth inning to take a 9-3 lead. The Roos scored their fourth run on a double from Kendra Leach (Easton, Kan.)

Kelsey Goodwin (Broken Arrow, Okla.) finished 2-3 with a single, double and a walk.

The Roos play two games tomorrow, the first at 10 a.m. CT against UMBC and the second at 12:30 p.m. against Belmont.
