UMKC Earns Victory Over Montana State

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UMKC men’s tennis (2-0) earned a 4-2 victory over Montana State on Friday evening. The Roos won four singles matches to claim their second straight victory to begin the spring season.

"We had some unexpected prematch adversity today, but the guys really stepped up and showed some serious mental fortitude,” assistant coach David Heckler said. “Doubles didn't go as well as we hoped, but the guys didn't let their heads hang for even a second. Montana State was a tough opponent and a good win for us.”

In No. 1 singles action, Airam Castellano registered a 7-6, 6-4 win over Kellen Bates. Amaury Navette dropped a 6-4, 6-4, decision to Rok Sitar at the No. 2 slot. Uldis Gaismins defeated Adrian Torrico 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 3 match. Tom Kruse won 6-4, 6-2 over Alexander Flink in the No. 4 contest while Mike Psarros sealed the team victory with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph on the No. 5 court against Kasper Parlklo.

The Bobcats claimed the doubles point with 6-2 victories in the No. 2 and No.3 matches.

UMKC faces host Air Force at 6 p.m. CT Saturday.
