(Kansas City, Mo.) – UMKC women’s golf’s Cynthia Diaz was named WAC Golfer of the Week after her performance at the Kansas City Shootout at the Shoal Creek Golf Club.
Diaz, a freshman from Bucaramanga, Columbia (Colegio Panamericano), won the first individual title in UMKC women’s golf history, shooting a 4-over-par 220, tied for the third best score in school history, to finish ahead of 83 other golfers at the Kansas City Shootout. Her best round came on Tuesday, carding a 2-under-par 70, tied for the fourth best round in school history. In her short time in Kansas City, she has recorded four of the top five tournament scores in program history.
The honor is the third of the season for the ‘Roos as Mackenzie Black has twice been named golfer of the week this season.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Apr. 22-24 when they head to Blaine, Wash., for the WAC Championship at Semiahmoo Resort.
