(Kansas City, Mo.) - The UMKC Boys Soccer Camps took place July 13-17 at Durwood Soccer Stadium, with more than 100 players from ages 10-18.

The weather cooperated with the camp, as temperatures stayed in the 70's and 80's with very little rain. The focus was, as always, to improve each player's comfort level with the ball. Individual training took place in the morning, with group sessions in the afternoon, and games in the evening (small-sided, indoor futsal and 11 on 11).

"With the weather were able to accomplish more with the boys and they cooperated with a consistent effort throughout the week." UMKC Head Men's Soccer Coach Rick Benben said.

The camp staff was loaded with outstanding players and coaches. UMKC Associate Head Coach Fred Schlichting served as camp director, while UMKC Women's Head Coach Chris Cissell and some of his staff also participated. Four former Kangaroo men's players, including Matt Benben and three current Missouri Comets and U.S. National Futsal Team players in Brian Harris, Bryan Perez and John Sosa. Several current UMKC players coached and played as well, giving the campers an up close look at what Division I soccer players look like in action.
