(Kansas City, Mo.)  – The Kansas City women’s golf team will close out the 2014 regular season when it welcomes in teams to Kansas City for the Gary Crossley Ford Kansas City Shootout at the Shoal Creek Golf Club (6,124; Par-72).  The tournament is set for Apr. 7-8 with Monday’s first round set to begin at 8 a.m. and the second round to follow immediately after, while Tuesday’s final round also tees off at 8 a.m.

The Field
The 15-team field will include: Creighton, Drake, Kansas City, Missouri State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Redlands CC, SIU Edwardsville, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Western Michigan and Wichita State. 15 individuals total from Creighton (1), Drake (1), Kansas City (2), Missouri State (1), North Dakota State (2), Oklahoma City (1), South Dakota (2), South Dakota State (3) and Wichita State (2) for a total of 90 golfers.

Shoal Creek Golf Course is a public golf course that strives to bring excellence to the number 2 rated course in Missouri, with excellent course conditions, 25 station driving range and practice green; while giving the elegance of a beautiful 11,000 square foot clubhouse for any meeting, banquet or wedding reception.

2013 UMKC Kangaroo Fall Invitational
Junior Susan Kirschenman and freshman Abbey Campbell each recorded top-five finishes to lead the Kansas City women’s golf team to a third place finish at the UMKC Kangaroo Fall Invitational at Shoal Creek Golf Course.  Kirschenman led the ‘Roos on the final day, carding a final round 72 that included an eagle on the par five ninth, tying her for the seventh lowest round in school history and helping the squad to a 305, tied for the 10th lowest round in school history.
    Playing as an individual, Campbell tied for fifth firing one birdie in her final round, while senior Emily Isaacson climbed to an 11th place finish with a third round 75, including a birdie on the eighth.  Junior Micah Radler was the ‘Roos next lowest finisher in 23rd, while Mackenzie Black and Madison Wolff tied for 31st in the event.  Abbie Horan rounded out the lineup, finishing in a tie for 48th playing as an individual.

2013 UMKC Kangaroo Spring Invitational
Four Kangaroos finished in the top-10, helping the Kansas City women’s golf team to a tie for third place at the Kangaroo Invitational at the Shoal Creek Golf Club.  The ‘Roos, who entered the third round in fourth place, fired the low score of the final round and quickly climbed to third where they finished with at 929 (311-308-310).
    Sophomore Susan Kirschenman led the ‘Roos in the event, finishing fifth at +13, with back-to-back birdies on the par three third and par four sixth, the second and third holes of her round.  Taylor Fisher was the second ‘Roo to finish in the top five, coming in ninth at +16, while Emily Isaacson tied for 10th after settling for an eagle on the par five ninth, narrowly missing a double eagle.
    Micah Radler was the final ‘Roo to finish in the top-10, tying Isaacson at +18, while freshman Charter Lawson recorded her first top-20 finish of her career, coming in tied for 19th.  Sophomore Abbie Horan, meanwhile, rounded out the Kansas City lineup in a tie for 26th.

Last Time Out
The Kansas City women’s golf team held steady on the final day of play at the UALR Golf Classic, closing out the event in 15th place after a final round 326 at the Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs, Ark.
    Junior Susan Kirschenman fired a third round 81 to tie for 48th with teammate Abbey Campbell as the freshman shot an 82 on the last day of play.  Junior Micah Radler and senior Emily Isaacson, meanwhile, each tied for 57th with Isaacson carding an 84 and Radler and 81 on Tuesday.  Freshman Mackenzie Black rounded out the lineup with a final round 82 to finish 73rd.

Kirschenman Named WAC GOW
Susan Kirschenman was named the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for the first time in her career, after shooting three-straight rounds in the 70’s to shoot a 19-over par 232 at the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz.

Entering the spring, the ‘Roos are ranked 183rd in the NCAA according to Golfstat, fifth in the WAC, narrowly trailing Chicago State (181).  According to Golfweek, meanwhile, the ‘Roos are 185th.

Last Season
In 2012-13, the Kangaroos finished as runners-up at The Summit League Championship matching the best finish in school history.  Individually, Susan Kirschenman and Emily Isaacson were named to the First Team All-Summit League, while Taylor Fisher earned Second Team honors.

Kirschenman’s Summer Run
This past summer, junior Susan Kirschenman reached the final 16 of the 113th WWGA National Amateur Championship, knocking off top players from Oklahoma State, Penn State and Wichita State along the way.

Rehkow Signs With ‘Roos
UMKC Women’s golf coach Brianna Broderick didn’t have to look far to sign her first recruit for the class of 2014.  Jordan Rehkow, a four-time Suburban 6 all conference performer from Blue Springs South has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the ‘Roos in fall 2014.
    Rehkow led the Jaguars to three consecutive Suburban 6 league titles, as well as qualified three times for the Missouri Girls State High School Championship.  During the 2013 fall high school season, Rehkow won the Missouri Girls Sectional at Drumm Farm in Kansas City.  In addition, Rehknow won the Truman Invitational while setting a school 18-hole record with a score of 71.

Head Coach Brianna Broderick
Brianna Broderick is entering her fifth season as the head coach of the UMKC women’s golf program.  In 2012-13, Broderick oversaw the ‘Roos match their best finish in school history with a runner-up finish in the 2013 Summit League Championship with Emily Isaacson earning all-tournament honors in the process.  During the regular season, Isaacson and Susan Kirschenman were each named to the First Team All-Summit League, while Taylor Fisher garnered Second Team honors.
