The Kansas City volleyball team (14-12, 8-6) will wrap-up regular season play this week when they welcome in Seattle (11-18, 8-6) and Idaho (15-10, 8-5) to Kansas City. The ‘Roos and the Redhawks will play on Thursday at 7 p.m., while the match with the Vandals will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the Swinney Recreation Center.
This will be the second meeting between the ‘Roos and both the Redhawks and the Vandals. On Oct. 17, Idaho beat Kansas City 3-0, while two days later Seattle did the same..

Christi Posey enters her third season at the helm of the UMKC volleyball program after being named the new head coach of the Kangaroos on Feb. 14, 2011. Last season, Posey guided the 'Roos to a 17-13 record overall, the second most wins in school history, while Emily Lucas was named to the First Team All-Summit League and Emma Hagedorn was named Honorable Mention All-Summit League and to the Summit League All-Freshman Team.
James Finley is the new head volleyball coach of the Seattle University Redhawks, effective Feb. 1, 2013. Finley served as head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University for eight years, compiling a 151-116 (.566) record from 2005 to 2012. He led the Rams to four conference championship matches, including the 2005 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament title that advanced VCU into the NCAA Tournament.
Debbie Buchanan is the longest-tenured coach in Idaho volleyball history as she enters her 14th season at the helm of the Vandal volleyball program. She has compiled a 196-188 overall record during her time with the Vandals and led Idaho to two NCAA tournament appearances.
Scouting the Competition
Seattle enters the match with an 11-18 record overall and an 8-6 mark in conference play after falling to Idaho last week. The Redhawks are led in kills by Iris Ivanis’ 285, while Kerry Lane has a team-best 912 assists. Defensively, Lani Beadle leads in kills with 328 and Allison Samadan is first in blocks with 74.
Idaho enters the match with a 15-10 record overall and an 8-5 mark in the WAC, after their win over the Redhawks. Jessica Hastriter (278), Alyssa Schultz (244) and Katelyn Peterson (231) have each topped 200 kills offensively, while Meredith Coba has a team-best 958 assists. Defensively, Jenna Ellis leads the team with 384 digs and Schultz (110) and Taylor Wilkinson (101) are atop in blocks.
The home of UMKC Athletics, the Swinney Recreation Center houses the Kangaroo administration, coaches and student-athletes. The Dutton Brookfield Strength and Conditioning Center, the Victor F. Swyden Athletics Training Facility and the Student-Athlete Support Services Office also are located in the facility.
