(Kansas City, Mo.) – The Kansas City athletic department hosted the 2013 Kangaroo Athletics Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Loch Lloyd Country Club.
The event was highlighted by Ron Davis’ Hole-In-One on the Par-3 No. 13, winning Davis a three day trip to the renowned TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Davis efforts on also won him closest to the pin on No. 13.
During the event, the 32 participating groups played four Par-3’s including one each with UMKC Chancellor Leo Morton, Kansas City sophomore Cameron Wiltse from the men’s golf team and senior Emily Isaacson from the women’s golf team.
Winning the A Flight in the scramble with a 56 was the team featuring Kansas City Head Men’s Golf Coach J.W. VanDenBorn, UMKC Hall of Famer Bill Ross, former ‘Roo linkster Tony Olson and Jay Byland, while the group of Simon Elliot, Kris Kuehn, Rob Heise and Mike Martin finished one shot behind in second.
In the B Flight, the team of Matt Starkey, Jill Starkey, Patrick Amey and Matt Berge placed first with a score of 64, while Eddie Cupini, Derek Guemmer, John Wheeler and Duncan Brown also finished at 64.
Winning the three other closest to pin awards at the Par-3’s were David Metcalf – No. 2, Suzie Vipond – No. 5 and Todd LaRose – No. 11, while Brian Johnson recorded the closest to the pin on the second shot at No. 8.
The longest drives, meanwhile, went to Lori Howard on the ladies side and Christopher Smith on the men’s side.
