(Kansas City, Mo.) - The Kansas City men's tennis squad opened its home season in dominating fashion on Friday night at the Carriage Club, taking out the Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Cougars by a 5-0 score.

The 'Roos (1-5) dropped the first doubles match at No. 3, but followed with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to snag the point going into singles play.

The first two wins took place in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4 as senior Grant Fleming and freshman Daniil Ivanov cruised to victories. The next two points were a little more difficult at No. 1 and No. 2, with both matches finishing within minutes of each other. Nino Hasandedic won a third set tiebreak to get the win at No. 1, while Tomas Patino came from a set down to win the next two easily and take his win, clinching the match.

SIUE (2-1) came into the match with an undefeated record after knocking off a couple Summit League opponents in South Dakota State and IUPUI.

Kansas City will remain at home, and face Air Force next Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Kansas City Country Club.
