(Kansas City, Mo.) - Junior Tomas Patino earned Summit League Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday after grabbing a victory over Southern Illinois in his first ever match at the No. 1 position.

Patino earns his first career award after "playing up" and earning a victory in Kansas City's match against Southern Illinois. Projected as the Kangaroos' No. 3 singles player, Patino was forced into action at No. 1 for his short-handed squad. After dropping the first set against SIU's Brandon Florez, he rallied for a three-set (2-6, 6-4, 10-8) victory to even his individual singles season record at 1-1.

Also nominated: Martin Muadi, Fort Wayne; Mateus Moreira, South Dakota State; Bradley Holt, Western Illinois.
