The two squads opened the day with doubles play where the Kangaroos No. 2 pairing of junior Tim Akhmedov and senior Gustavo Guerin fell to Tsvetan Mihov and Peerakit Siributwong, 8-1, while sophomore Cameron Schoenhofer and junior Grant Fleming lost to Costin Paval and Dane Webb, 8-3 at No. 1 to give the Sooners the doubles point.
In the No. 3 match, meanwhile, sophomore Tomas Patino and freshman Conner Edwards were trailing 7-6 to David Pultr and Lawrence Formentera when the point was clinched.
In singles play, Schoenhofer went down to Pultr, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5, while Akhmedov fell to Formentera, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 to give OU its third point of the match. Oklahoma then clinched the match when Webb knocked off Guerin at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1.
In the other singles matches, Fleming was trailing Paval after losing the first set, 6-2, but was leading in the second set 2-3, while junior Nino Hasandedic lost his first set, 6-4, but was leading 2-1 in set two. At No. 2, meanwhile, Patino was trailing Guillermo Alcorta, 6-3, 4-0 when the match ended.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again in the fall, returning everyone to their lineup except senior Guatavo Guerin.
