(Kansas City, Mo.) - The UMKC men's tennis team (10-15) will take on overall No. 10 seed Oklahoma (18-3) in Norman, Okla., in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Championships

Last week, the 'Roos advanced to the NCAA Championships after defeating IUPUI in the Summit League Championships' finale.  On the season, the 'Roos are led from the No. 1 line by Summit League Player of the Year Grant Fleming and from the No. 2 position by Summit League Newcomer of the Year Tomas Patino.  2011 Summit League Player and Newcomer of the Year Nino Hasandedic holds down the No. 3 line for the 'Roos, while 2012 All-Summit League selections Abdulrahman Alawadhi and Gustavo Guerin will be the Nos. 4 and 5 players, respectively, for UMKC.  Cameron Schoenhofer, meanwhile, enters the tournament at No. 6 for the 'Roos after winning the Summit League Championship clinching match against IUPUI.

No. 12 Oklahoma, meanwhile, enters the tournament after capturing the Big 12 Championship title with a 4-3 win over Baylor on Apr. 29.  The Sooners are led from the No. 1 line by No. 14 Costin Paval and from the No. 2 line by No. 63 Guillermo Alcorta.  In doubles play, OU's features the No. 11 ranked No. 1 team of Paval and Dane Webb and the No. 57 ranked No. 2 team of Tsvetan Mihov and Peerakit Siributwong.

This will be UMKC's fifth appearance overall and the second straight in the NCAA Championships after falling to USC (1999), UCLA (2000), Baylor (2009) and Texas (2011) in their previous trips.
