Marketing & Fan Engagement Assistant

Brittany Bryson joined UMKC Athletics in January of 2016 as a marketing intern and has been leaving her mark on the department ever since.

In her current role as Marketing & Fan Engagement Assistant, Bryson was the driving force behind and the Roos contact person for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Advancement Program, a pilot initiative that matches schools with professional marketing experts for mentorship and assistance in increasing attendance and improving the overall fan experience.

Thanks to her efforts, the women’s basketball program saw their attendance nearly double in just one season, with the largest crowd coming on Kansas City Day where National Girls & Women in Sports Day was featured.  Due to the success of the program at UMKC, a second consecutive year as a participating member was awarded to the school.

During her time at UMKC, Bryson has led teams of interns in the development and execution of the department’s marketing plan, created graphics for and maintained the social media accounts for the department and its 14 sports, contributed to the planning and execution of department events including the annual Basketball Tip-off Dinner and the Champions Banquet, worked with UMKC administration to increase involvement with athletics from the student body, handled the donation requests to the department, managed the “Kasey” mascot program and been a staple at nearly all UMKC home events, helping to run the gameday operations.

Bryson has participated in the organization, implementation and execution of the marketing and entertainment for the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship Tournament, while also serving as a marketing and promotions intern for Steel City Media, Mix 93.3, where she established a marketing plan for the company and created and managed the radio stations social media accounts.

As a Bloch Student Ambassador, Bryson guided students and their families around the UMKC campus and the Bloch School, as well as planned and executed recruitment and retention events across campus.  She also spent time with Red Bull as a Red Bull Wings Team, Team Captain, leading a group of team members and executing the national product launch of the Red Bull editions 2.0.

As an undergrad at UMKC, Bryson served as the President of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, as well as the Recruitment and Marketing Vice President and Special Events Chair and was a founding member of the UMKC Chapter of Active Minds, a mental health and suicide prevention organization with chapters all across the United States.  She also donated her time to serving at the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City.

Brittany graduated from UMKC in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing and will graduate in May of 2019 with her Master’s degree in Higher education, Sports Administration and Exercise Science.

Brittany currently resides in Kansas City with her sister Bridgette and her dog Nigel.
