Aries Washington joined the SASSO team in the fall semester of 2018 as an assistant athletic advisor. She serves as the primary athletic advisor for advisor Softball and Men’s Golf. She works with a diverse group of student-athletes and provides them with weekly mentoring and individualized skill instruction. In addition to assisting student-athletes on their academic needs, Washington develops student-athletes with mental health and identity development that will help them grow outside of their careers as an athlete. She assists the Assistant Director of Academic Support on appropriate mental health training which consists of breaking down barriers, de-stigmatizing mental health and encouraging support with their peers.
Washington is currently seeking a Masters of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis on Mental Health. She is working towards becoming a Sports Psychologist or a Doctor in Positive Psychology.
Before joining the SASSO team, Washington was a member of the UMKC Women’s Basketball team. She was the 7th leading scorer, 9th leading rebounder, 9th in Field Goals made, 9th in Free Throws made and 6th in Free throw Percentage at UMKC. Washington was also awarded the WAC-ALL Newcomers Team and Rookie of the Year in 2014. She also received Second-Team ALL-WAC in 2018.
Washington earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of Missouri Kansas City in May 2018.
