JaVon Hill joined the Academic Support staff in fall 2018. Hill joins SASSO as a graduate assistant where he acts as an academic mentor to a diverse group of student athletes within UMKC on a weekly basis, and is the primary athletic advisor for the Men's and Women's Tennis programs. He works diligently with student athletes on academic needs and helping them lay foundation for their lives post-graduation. In addition, Hill works closely with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to improve student engagement, school unity and affect positive change within the athletic department.
Before joining the SASSO staff, Hill attended Central Methodist University for two years where he was also played basketball. He then decided to transfer and graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia in Spring 2018 with a Bachelors degree in Parks, Recreation and Sport with an emphasis in Sport Management. While pursuing an undergraduate degree at Mizzou, Hill worked closely with Mizzou Basketball and Football as a student equipment manager/intern.
Hill now returns back home to Kansas City where he is now in progression of attaining his Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from UMKC. Hill’s ultimate goals in life are to become a Director of Player Development for a Division 1 University and have an impact on the next generation.
