Jessica Schmitz joined the UMKC Sports Medicine staff in the fall of 2015 as Assistant Athletic Trainer.
She came to UMKC from Missouri S&T, where she was an athletic trainer for nearly three years, helping the school earn the American College Health Association Concussion Protocol Award in 2015. She was also an Honorary M-Club member there in 2014.
She also worked at TMC Orthopedic in Houston, Texas in her first job out of school.
She was a graduate assistant trainer at Abilene Christian from 2009-11, working with the D-II National Champion track team. She earned her master's degree in exercise and sports science in 2011 from ACU.
Here undergraduate years were spent at Central Missouri, where she earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training in 2009.
At UMKC she is in charge of student paraprofessionals, clinic coordinator, staff scheduling, inventory management and purchasing.
She is a member of MAATA, MOATA, and Kansas City Athletic Trainers Society. Schmitz is a BOC Certified athletic trainer, as well as a state of Missouri, Texas and Kansas licensed athletic trainer.
