“I'm super excited to welcome Christina to our UMKC family," Frese said. "She brings a wealth of experience through her time working in the private sector and her attention to detail will make for a smooth transition into the Director of Operations role. Beyond her organizational skills she is another outstanding piece to help build our championship culture, having been a part of several successful women’s basketball teams during her playing career at South Dakota State University.”

Gilbert joins the Kangaroo staff after serving as the Director of Operations since 2009 at Velocity Sports in Champlin, Minn. At Minnesota's premier sports performance training center, Gilbert worked with many facets of operations and administration, including extensive calendar management where she balanced training schedules for teams and individuals involving nearly 1,000 classes and monthly employee schedules at two separate locations.

Gilbert spent time maintaining the the organization's database that included over 1,500 athletes and planned and executed a budget friendly research trip among other Velocity programs from around the nation. Gilbert also implemented Velocity's social media accounts, establishing and maintaining the organization's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and the marketing campaigns associated with them, while also maintaining and updating the Velocity website and email marketing strategy.

Prior to her stint at Velocity, Gilbert gained valuable Division I experience when she held the position of senior building supervisor for the University of Minnesota, organizing and preparing the myriad of events held at TCF Bank Stadium.

Gilbert earned her Bachelor's of Science from South Dakota State University in 2007, majoring in graphic design and minoring in public recreation, while receiving her Master's of Education in applied kinesiology with an emphasis in sports management from the University of Minnesota in 2010.
