Bailey Sosa joined the Student-Athlete Support Services Office in August 2015. As a graduate assistant for SASSO, Sosa currently serves as an Academic Mentor and Assistant Advisor for specified teams. She works individually with both incoming and at-risk student-athletes on a weekly basis to provide a variety of educational support to aid student-athletes in achieving their academic, personal, and professional goals. She is also the assistant advisor for Women’s Soccer, Men’s Track & Field, and Softball.
Additionally, Sosa works with the Assistant Director of Academic Support to coordinate and implement Learning Specialist programming to assistant student-athletes with educationally impacting learning disabilities. She also assists in the planning and implementation of various Life Skills events and efforts, including Step UP! Bystander Intervention Training.
Originally from Emporia, Kansas, Sosa attended Baker University and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. While at Baker, Sosa was a member of the Women’s Soccer team, playing on the 2011 and 2012 Conference Championship and National Tournament squads, and served as team captain in 2014. Additionally, Sosa was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, Baker Rallies against Violence Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Organization (BRaV), the Psychology Club and Total Equality Alliance.
While at UMKC, Sosa is pursuing her Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, with an emphasis in Mental Health. In the future, she would like to practice psychotherapy in a private practice.
