‘Roos Release First Schedule As Member Of The WAC

(Kansas City, Mo.) – The UMKC men’s golf team and head coach J.W. VanDenBorn announced their 2013 schedule on Monday with the slate highlighted by the annual Bill Ross Intercollegiate and the ‘Roos first appearance in the WAC Championship.

The Kangaroos will open the season with a pair of events in Colorado, starting on Sept. 8-9 when they head to Colorado Springs, for the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by Air Force at the Eisenhower Golf Club, before heading to Erie on Sep. 23-24 for the Mark Simpson Invitational at the Colorado National Golf Club.

After taking part in Wisconsin’s Badger Invitational on Sep. 29-Oct. 1 at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisc., the squad will return home to host the annual Bill Ross Intercollegiate at the Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, Kan.

The ‘Roos then close out the fall season on Oct. 21-22 when they take part in the Herb Wimberly

Invitational hosted by new WAC foe New Mexico State at the NMSU Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.

Kansas City returns to competition when they make trips to Phoenix, Ariz., for the ReBath Snowman Getaway on Feb. 24-25 hosted by Loyola (Md.) at the Palm Valley Golf Club and Bandon, Ore., for the Bandon Dunes Championship hosted by Gonzaga on Mar. 9-11 at Pacific Dunes.

After returning to the Palm Valley Golf Club for the Desert Shootout hosted by Kansas State on Mar. 20-22, the squad will close out the regular season with a pair of tournaments including the Memphis Intercollegiate on Mar. 31-Apr. 1 in Cordova, Tenn., at the Colonial Country Club and the Bancorp South Intercollegiate on Apr. 14-15 at the Reunion Country Club in Madison, Miss.

On May 2-4, the ‘Roos will look to claim their second straight conference title when they head to Las Vegas, Nev., for their first appearance in the WAC Championship at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
