Kansas City, Mo. – UMKC Athletics continued to improve its Graduation Success Rate (GSR), turning in an 88% - one point above the NCAA’s national average of 87%. The total turned in by the Roos is the highest in school history.
“UMKC student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom,” Deputy Director of Athletics Ursula Gurney commented. “We are proud of their focus and drive to place academic success at the center of their experience while on campus.”
Roo student-athletes continue to graduate above the student body at UMKC. The student-athlete Federal Graduation Rate (FGR) is 60 percent, which is 11 percentage points above the overall UMKC student body.
Three programs – women’s tennis, women’s golf and volleyball – recorded a perfect 100 GSR. Men’s and women’s soccer both recorded improved scores of 95, while men’s basketball continues to align with the national average amongst the sport.
One of the cornerstones of UMKC Athletics is to educate student-athletes in the classroom and in life, and to help prepare them for life after college. The GSR of 88% percent, combined with an all-time high cumulative GPA, is indicative of the hard work and dedication by Roos student-athletes in the classroom.
