Redhawks, Wolverines Visit KC for WAC Showdowns

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC volleyball team continues its three-match WAC home stand when it welcomes in Seattle and Utah Valley to the Swinney Recreation Center this week.  The Roos will open on Oct. 12 with a 7 p.m. match against the Redhawks before taking on the Wolverines on Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.

About the Roos
UMKC comes into the match with a 6-12 mark on the season and a 2-3 record in conference action, picking up wins over Grand Canyon and Chicago State.  Three Roos have topped the 100-kill mark on the season, including 175 from Alicia Harrington (Cedar Falls, Iowa), 152 from Mykal Sadler (Des Moines, Iowa) and 140 from Alex Ratzlaff (Hillsboro, Kan.).  In the back row, Rhegan Spiegel (Savannah, Mo.) has a team-high 270 digs and Ratzlaff has chipped in 207.

About the Redhawks
Seattle U enters the match with a 6-12 record on the season and a 2-3 mark in WAC play after wins over UTRGV and Grand Canyon.  Katarina Marinkovic tops the Redhawks with 225 kills, with Katarina Glavinic (130) and Maja Stojanovic (121) have also surpassed 100 kills on the season.  Defensively, Tijana Milojevic has a team-best 306 digs and Stojanovic tops the team with 68 blocks. 

About the Wolverines
Utah Valley enters the weekend with a record of 8-12 overall and 3-2 in the WAC, knocking off New Mexico State, Grand Canyon and Seattle U.  Offensively, Lexi Thompson has a team-high 264 kills, with Madison Dennison adding 213, while Sierra Starley has 722 assists.  Defensively, Seren Merrill has 303 digs and Dennison has 126 blocks.

The Blue & Gold returns to the road when it opens the second half of its schedule at CSU Bakersfield on Oct. 19 at 9 p.m. CT and Grand Canyon on Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. CT.
