About the ’Roos

UMKC comes into this weekend having already played two matches against a pair of power-five conference schools in Arkansas of the SEC and Kansas of the Big 12. With a 1-4-2 record on the season, the ’Roos will hope to use these weekend contests as a jumpstart before the beginning of conference play.

Offensively, UMKC has been led by a variation of players this season, as seven different ’Roos have shown up in the box score with goals or assists. With each player having a goal recorded on the year, freshman MF Sammi Arch (Overland Park, Kan.), junior MF Sydni Young (O’Fallon, Mo.) and sophomore F Kelsey Mothershead (Smithville, Mo.) are all tied for the team lead with goals scored.

Sophomore Anna Lillig (Kansas City, Mo.) has been a wall in the box, saving 34 goals on the season, which ranks second in the WAC. Her freshman teammate Erin Roth (Eureka, Mo.) has also been a force between the posts, recording a shutout in the first start of her career.

Chris Cissell is currently in his sixth year at the helm of the ’Roos program. During his tenure at UMKC, Cissell has posted a coaching record of 54-41-15, increasing UMKC’s win total in each of the last four seasons.

About the Jackrabbits

SDSU enters its battle with the ’Roos winning its last game vs. Green Bay 4-0. With a 3-4-1 record on the year, the Jackrabbits have outscored its opponents 10-6 thus far in the season. On the other side of the field, the Jackrabbits have saved 24 goals amongst its two goal-stoppers. SDSU is led by Madison Yuiell, who has a perfect shots on goal percentage, knocking in a team-high three goals and recording six points in the process.

About the Coyotes

Before squaring up with UMKC on Sunday, South Dakota will matchup with Eastern Washington. The Coyotes begin their weekend contests just 1-6-1, winning its first game at home vs. Idaho. Between the posts, GK Parker Rytz has stopped a team-high 39 goals, as she has split time in the net with South Dakota’s two other goalies.
