The Kansas City women’s basketball team (0-2) will continue its opening road trip when it heads Edwardsville, Ill., to take on SIU Edwardsville (0-2) on Nov. 16. The contest between the ‘Roos and the Cougars is slated for a 4 p.m. start on Saturday at Vadalabene Center.
SIU Edwardsville enters the contest with an 0-2 record overall, falling to Missouri and Kansas to open the season. Coco Moore and Jessie Wendt lead the Cougars in scoring at 13.0 ppg, while on the glass SIUE has five player averaging more than 5.5 rpg, led by Micah Jones at 6.5. As a team, the Cougars are averaging 52.0 ppg on 36.0 percent shooting, including 14.3 percent from beyond the arc, while allowing 65.5 ppg.
Kansas City leads the all-time series with the Cougars 6-2, including a 71-59 win in the last meeting on Nov. 23, 2010.

Renowned for her top-notch recruiting classes, Marsha Frese enters her second season as head women’s basketball coach at UMKC. Named as the Kangaroo head coach on April 25, 2012, Frese brings 16 seasons of experience as a Division-I player and coach to the UMKC campus.
Paula Buscher begins her second season at the helm of SIUE women’s basketball. The Cougars advanced to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament for the first time last season and completed the season with a 16-15 record.
Originally opened December 5, 1984 the Sam M. Vadalabene Center lends itself to the students, faculty, staff and alumni of SIUE for the purposes of education, health, recreation and wellness. The facility is the home to SIUE men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and wrestling, and has a capacity of slightly above 4,000. It also serves as the indoor practice facility for baseball and track.

Senior forward Kim Nezianya scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, but it was not enough as the Kansas City women’s basketball team (0-2) fell 76-74 to instate rival Southeast Missouri State (2-1) on Thursday night at the Show Me Center.
