(Kansas City, Mo.) -- The Kansas City men's golf team finished the first day of play in the Bill Ross Intercollegiate in eighth spot after the first two rounds of play at the Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, Kan.

Senior Cole Chelle and Jack Fiscus led the ‘Roos on the opening day, as each sit in a tie for 17th after two rounds.

Chelle opened with a 72, birdieing holes four and five back-to-back, before adding two more birdies in round two to shoot a 76.

Fiscus, meanwhile, carded two straight rounds of 74, firing three total birdies on the day.

Sophomore Antoine Rozner finished with the ‘Roos next lowest score, shooting rounds of 77 and 73 with a birdie in each round.

Senior Nathan Hughes finished with four birdies on the day and sits at +9 in a tie for 48th, while sophomore Cameron Wiltse is tied for 74th.

Competing as individuals for the ‘Roos were freshmen Matthew DePalma and Nicholas Scrymgeour with the pair each tied for 76th.

Central Arkansas holds the team lead by one shot over Oklahoma Christian, while the Bears’ Pep Angles is tied with Arkansas State’s Easton Key for the individual lead at-3.

The Blue & Gold will be back in action tomorrow starting at 8:00 a.m. when they wrap-up play with the third and final round.
