(Kansas City, Mo.) - The 2013 version of the UMKC Boys Soccer Camps are underway this week at the Durwood Soccer Stadium, with campers ages 10-18 out on the turf.
Several former UMKC players are on hand to coach the youngsters, as well as instruction from Head Coach Rick Benben and Associate Head Coach Fred Schlichting.
The campers have come from all over the area to improve their game, with a few international players as well. The camp started on Monday morning, and runs through Thursday afternoon.
"It's really great to see how much these kids have improved in such a short period of time. Many of them are extremely coach-able and its fun to watch the progression." Said former UMKC standout Brian Harris, who is on hand as a coach this week.
The 'Roos are also hoping to gain some fans for the upcoming season as they head into the new Western Athletic Conference. The exhibition season kicks up on August 18 against Rockhurst at 7:30 p.m., while the regular season gets going at home on August 31 against Wisconsin at 7:00 p.m.
The 'Roos return 15 letterwinners and nine starters this season, and boast a class of 11 newcomers to the mix as well. For a 2013 prospectus complete with rosters and schedule, click here.
