(Kansas City, Mo.) – Friday afternoon, the UMKC women’s soccer program announced its 2013 regular season schedule, in what will be its first year in the Western Athletic Conference.

Coming off a 6-9-4 overall finish in 2012, including a 3-4-1 record in Summit League action, the Kangaroos are set to return 22 players from last year’s campaign.

To begin the season, the Blue & Gold will open up with back-to-back home games on Aug. 23 and Aug. 25 with SIU-Edwardsville (7 p.m.) and Southeast Missouri State (1 p.m.) traveling to Kansas City.  Last season, UMKC was able to down SEMO on the road, 1-0, but ended up falling to SIUE on the road, 2-1.

The following week, the Kangaroos will hit the road to take on former Summit League foe, Oral Roberts (Aug. 30), followed by a matchup at home against the Missouri Tigers (Sept. 1), who are coming off their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Up next, Kansas City will head south for the weekend to Arkansas to face the UALR Trojans (Sept. 6) and the Central Arkansas Bears (Sept. 8). Then, UMKC will return home to face Creighton (Sept. 10), followed by a road matchup at Missouri State, in what will be its final match before conference action.

To open WAC play, the Kangaroos will face the New Mexico State Aggies twice in three days, with UMKC hosting the first match (Sept. 20) and the Aggies hosting the second (Sept. 22).

Continuing conference play, Kansas City will head north to take on Seattle (Sept. 27) and Idaho (Sept. 29), before returning home to face the Grand Canyon Antelopes (Oct. 4).

The Kangaroos will then hit the road for the final time in 2013 for what will be a three-game road swing with games against Utah Valley (Oct. 11), CSU Bakersfield (Oct. 13) and Grand Canyon (Oct. 20).

To conclude the regular season, UMKC will finish with a season long four-game homestand as Idaho (Oct. 2), Seattle (Oct. 27), CSU Bakersfield (Nov. 1) and Utah Valley (Nov. 3) will head to Kansas City.

As for the conference tournament (Nov. 7 – 10), it will be held in Las Cruces, N.M., hosted by the New Mexico State Aggies.
