(Kansas City, Mo.) - The Oakland Grizzlies led from start to finish, and out-scored UMKC 50-15 in the first half on their way to an 89-56 drubbing on Thursday night at Swinney Recreation Center.

In the first half Grizzlies (16-14, 10-8 SL) senior guard Reggie Hamilton was dominant as he had 21 points, seven assists, three steals and five rebounds. He scored nine in helping OU jump out to a 13-0 lead in the first five minutes. UMKC (10-20, 4-13 SL) could never get on track offensively, hitting only 14.8 percent in the half, and scoring a season-low 15 first half points.

Oakland went up by 20 with 9:15 on the clock, and had it to 30 with 3:42 left in the period. The Grizzlies then outscored the 'Roos 11-0 to end the half, going into the break up by 35.

Laval Lucas-Perry and Travis Bader had 12 and 11, respectively, to add to Hamilton's total for OU, while the 'Roos were paced by five points from both Kirk Korver and Nate Rogers. Oakland handled the 'Roos in every category, hitting 56 percent from the floor, with a 21-13 rebound edge and a 7-0 edge in points off turnovers.

The final half started just as badly for the 'Roos as the lead grew to 43 by the 14:23 mark. The margin hovered around that level, getting up to as many as 48 at the 4:58 mark.

Both teams emptied their benches from there, with UMKC outscoring OU 20-5 down the stretch to get it to the final margin. Junior center Brad Reid scored a career-high 14 of those points during the run.

UMKC had 21 points in the first 15 minutes of the period, but the 20-point flurry at the end put its shooting percentage at 48.4 percent for the half.

In the end, the 'Roos hit 32.8 percent, while OU was at 49 percent. Hamilton led all scorers with 31 points, passing 2,000 for his career in the contest. Reid led the 'Roos in scoring, while Rogers was the only other player in double figures with 11.

UMKC will now face IPFW on Saturday with a berth in the Summit League Tournament on the line. The contest will be televised on KSMO-TV at 7:05 p.m.
